The Successful Man of the World and the Afterlife According to Prophet Muhammad SAW

By Cecep Asmadiredja

Many people think that the best humans are those who are successful in a career in a particular field, to have a high position or position. Suppose success in business, so that he has a lot of wealth, which is infinite  in number.

Or those who are successful in the field of education, so he gets the title of professor, doctor.  Successful in the field of sports, so as to get the title of the fastest man or the best player.

In the Islamic vision, man may be judged by a particular human being or institution, but in order to maintain objectivity, the parameters used should be parameters that have been determined by Allah SWT and His Messenger.

If this parameter is used as a foothold to assess a person’s success in the world, of course the results will be objective and will have an impact on their success in the afterlife, which is to be put into heaven and avoid the torment  of neraka.

There are several parameters that make a person seen as the best human being according to the Prophet SAW.

First, do not refuse to pay off debts. Abu Hurairah Ra narrated, “That the Prophet of SAW said, “The best of you is the best at paying debts“.  (Muttafaqun ‘alaih).

Second, study the Qur’an and teach it to others. Ustman bin ‘Affan Ra. He said, “The Prophet said, “The best of you is to learn the Qur’an and teach it“.  (HR Bukhari).

Third, the most expected good and the most far bad. Abu Hurairah Ra narrated that the Prophet of SAW stood before some people, and then he said, “Will I tell you the best and bad of your people?” They were silent. The Prophet asked like that three times, and then there was a man who said, “Yes, we want O Prophet, tell us our best and our bads”. Then Beliau said, “The best of you is the one who is expected of his good, while the bad is awake…“.  (HR Tirmidhi).

Fourth, to be the best husband for his family. Aisyah Ra ber said, “The Prophet of SAW said, “The best of you is the best (husband) to his family and I am the best to my family“. (HR Tirmidhi).

Fifth, yang is best and studying. Abu Hurairah Ra ber said, “The Prophet of SAW said, “The best of you Muslims is the best moral if they study“. (HR Ahmad).

Sixth, give food. Hamzah bin Shuhaib Ra narrated from his father, saying, “Surely the Prophet shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam said, “The best you are the ones who give food“. (HR Ahmad).

Seventh, he lived a long life and was good for his deeds. Abdullah bin Busr Ra narrated that there was a Bedouin Arab who asked the Prophet of SAW, “O Messenger of Allah, who is the best man?” He replied, “A man who lives a long life and is good at his practice“. (HR Tirmidhi).

Eighth, it is most beneficial to fellow human beings.  Dari Jabir Ra said that the Prophet of SAW said, “The best of man is the most beneficial to man“. (Hr Ahmad, Thabrani, and Daruqutni).
